He was right - he can hear Howard's raised voice as he approaches the officers' working tents. Bucky enters and crosses the room to stand in front of the table Steve's using as a desk and gives him a crisp salute while Howard glares at him. "Sir, Sergeant Barnes reporting."
The exasperation in Steve's blue eyes almost makes him laugh, but his friend returns the salute and says, "Carry on, Sergeant. You're just in time to give us your view on things."
The resulting discussion is animated, to say the least. Bucky holds the line until Howard grudgingly agrees to talk over plans for tests with them at the start of the session, at the latest, then promises that Agent Carter's said she'd cooperate if he'd do that. There's no missing the way Howard brightens at that.
"Great. Great. Go find her and bring her back to the lab, and we'll pick up where we left off." He remembers himself and glances at Steve. "If that's okay by you?"
"Until lunchtime, anyway," Steve says, after a quick glance at Bucky. "I need Sergeant Barnes back here to plan the next mission after that."
